Carondelet is an all-girls catholic college preparatory high school located in Concord, California.  At the heart of their mission they aim to empower and build confidence in young high school girls to live their lives with heart, faith, courage and excellence—-the core values of the school.  Through the teachings of Sisters of St. Joseph, Carondelet strives for inclusivity and diversity, welcoming all; and teaches the students the values of service, empathy, social justice and gratitude.  Students of Carondelet exit high school not only prepared for college but to be bold and confident leaders in their community.

Carondelet offers a variety of service projects throughout the year which are typically student-led.  For the 2023 Advent Season, the students of the Spiritual Life Council voted to support The Crayon Initiative for their service project.  The students identified a theme for the project, "Lighting up our world with color," symbolizing how Jesus brought light into our world through his birth and how the crayons collected can bring light into others' lives.  This was a 3 week effort with a goal of collecting 100 pounds of crayons, plus creating colorful Christmas cards for pediatric patients and the elderly.  The student body, composed of ~800 students, surpassed their goal and collected over 250 pounds of crayons.  The impact of this collection resulted in over 1,200 new colorful boxes of crayons to be donated to children’s hospitals across the US—or 1,200 pediatric patients receiving a new box of crayons for therapeutic play!  Additionally, 20 students visited a local memory care community to sort crayons with the senior residents, hand out Christmas cards and spend time getting to know the residents.  This was an amazing experience and brought the senior community such joy and happiness to be working side by side with young students in support of pediatric patients.  

The students of Carondelet showed their true colors, giving of their time and talent to support a cause they believed in!
